HAPPY NEW YEAR BADDIES!
I can’t believe It is the start of a new year already; like 2017 only lasted for 5 seconds then BOOM!
I am so excited to share some wisdom that 2017 taught me the hard way! I hope you learn a thing or two and I guarantee you that you’ll have a successful 2018…Let’s get into It…
Let’s have a recap real quick
My 2017 was definitely a very interesting one. I had my highs and lows, my cries and laughters, new beginnings, growth spurts, new discoveries, major lessons and most importantly, many blessings. Through all my experiences, I was able to grow out of them with a brand new mindset. Here are some of the commandments that I created as the year went by…
1. VALUE YOUR WORTH ABUNDANTLY
This applies to any situation you might find yourself in; be It a relationship, a business venture or even when It comes to making friends. Never let anyone look down upon you hun.
2. KEEP YOUR STANDARDS HIGH THROUGHOUT
Never settle for less – don’t pay attention to those who might put you down for having high standards. Know what you deserve and never settle for less because trust me, you are going to regret It later on.
3. QUIT WASTING TIME IN THE NAME OF “HAVING FUN”
The more you grow, the more you realize that time is really money and you can’t just be giving out your money carelessly because you will end up broke in no time! This particularly goes to all the forced relationships, friendships, school life, life goals….the list goes on. Let me focus on relationships/friendships though.
A lot of times in this time and age, we date just to “have fun” or just to “see where It goes” but if you think about It, even though YOLO, you can never rewind that time. Take your time in forming relationships. Interview the hell out of that potential bae until they qualify for a position in your life. If you do not see yourself with that person at least 5 years down the line, honey, save your time for the right person and work on building yourself as you wait.
4. MAKE SURE EVERYBODY IN YOUR SQUAD IS ‘EATING’
I can’t stress this enough! In other words, do not be the only one in your squad who is getting sh*t done and hustling hard because guess what…the rest are going to want to eat from your plate and that will just leave you starving! If you are not learning anything from your squad, not grinding together, not even motivating each other, RUN! At least have that one friend that wants to plant, harvest and eat with you…not just eat what you harvest! #everybodyeats2018 LOL.
5. QUIT HAVING HIGH EXPECTATIONS
This literally just paves the way for all the disappointments you are going to face in reality. I, personally, usually have high expectations on people, expecting them to act a certain way even what they are not. The more I did that, the more I realized you can never expect a fish to climb a tree. In other words, NEVER wait for somebody to change for you or for a situation to go your way.
6. LEAVE YOUR FEARS IN 2017
You have a plan to be great but you are too scared of how It will end up? Babygirl…go ahead and do the damn thing! Jesus will take the wheel. Stop wasting time thinking of how It will end up before you even start the journey.
7. LOOK AT FAILURE AS MOTIVATION
Instead of sitting there and balling out your eyes with tears, start planning your next move.Look at failure as your fertile soil that produces your future.
8. STAY CONSISTENT IN WHATEVER YOU DO
Do not start something and start procrastinating. Set your goals and accomplish them consistently. Remember, lack of consistency invites lack of interest.
9. QUIT SEEKING FOR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
Be your number 1 fan! Do not depend on what people think of you or what you are doing. Some people will want to kill your vibe instead of rooting for you and that is not what you need at all.
10. LEARN HOW TO BALANCE IT ALL
If you are like me, juggling a bunch of responsibilities and still handling nursing school while living a lit life and making time to turn up, you know you really need to have precise time management. For more on how to handle all that, read my post HERE.
Cheers to a prosperous 2018!
