You already know what time it is….Yep! That time of the semester when that one exam is a make it or break it.
Well, calm down, relax and be ready to ace those finals because I got you covered with some of my study hacks…
Just know, it is never too late to bring your grades up…
Here are some study hacks that will help you finish strong this semester:
Declutter your study space
Before you start studying, make sure your study space is clean and organized to put you in a focussed mode. A cluttered area promotes tiredness and no motivation to study.
PLAN EFFICIENTLY WHEN TO STUDY
Planning prepares your brain of what to expect and is also a really great way to reduce stress by avoiding last minute cramming. A chapter a day seems doable, which will give you ample time to be prepared for the exams without having to cram the whole book the night before.
REVIEW CHAPTERS USING THE TESTING METHOD
There’s nothing boring than studying just for the sake without having a goal to actually understand the material. It is always helpful to test your understanding after a chapter or so just to identify where your weak points are. Research has also shown that when you study by expecting a quiz, you actually retain the material better.
PACE YOURSELF FOR EACH CHAPTER
This actually is a priority. It makes you focus even more knowing that your time is running up. Trust me, without timing your sessions, it is very easy to call for procrastination.
VISUALIZE YOUR STUDIES
I love YouTube so much; and since I procrastinate by watching beauty or fashion videos, why not watch videos related to my chapter of study. If you are a visual learner, this is great for you.
For each section in a chapter that you don’t understand, (after identifying your weak points) go on YouTube and watch the related videos. Crash course is a really great channel for lessons.
ALTERNATE YOUR STUDY SPOTS
Your brain improves its retention of material when you shift your area of studying. One day at your study desk, next on the dinning, the other at the coffee shop, or the library. It doesn’t matter where you choose. The feeling of a new environment reinforces alertness which then improves how well you understand the material
USE A RECORDER

At the start of every class in a semester, set your recorder to capture the lessons which will help you for future personal studies. If you did not record any lessons, attend exam review sessions and record them as well so you can listen to them over and over before the exam day!
ORGANIZE A GROUP STUDY
After completing your personal studies, form a study group and try teaching others. This will help you put what you mastered into practice which is a good strategy for understanding your content well
HAVE A CHILL REVIEW SESSION THE NIGHT BEFORE
This is where you put your voice recordings in use. I usually listen to mine when I am driving, working out or even when I am just relaxing on my bed on the verge of falling asleep. Listen to them at your free time so it doesn’t seem like a task of actually opening a book.
RELAX…TAKE A BREAK
Do not ever force yourself to study when you feel like your brain is full and saturated with information. You will not understand anything at this point. Instead, take a nap or engage in something fun to revive yourself.
All in all, do not stress about a thing. Believe in yourself and know that you got this!
All the best to all of you that are preparing for final exams this coming week. (Including me) *Sobs*
We are going to make it. I hope these study hacks will help in some way 🙂
stay classy and slay per usual.
